Arashiyama

The first landmark of Arashiyama is the "Togetsu bridge" which often appears on TV broadcasts.
There are a lot of great places to eat at and various souvenir shops are in the Arashiyama shopping district that adorn the way from the Togetsu Bridge to Tenryuji Temple.

"Bamboo Grove Road" whose color turns green all around will also appear frequently in dramas.

The garden with Arashiyama and Ogurayama situate on loaned land is a beautiful magical place.

In Gozan no Okuribi on August 16th you can see the left "大" and gigantic torii.

Spring Arashiyama

Approximately 1,500 cherry blossoms such as Yoshino cherry tree and Yamazakura are blooming all around Arashiyama. When full bloom the mountains will dyed pink and from Togetsu Bridge you can enjoy the beautiful scenery.

It is also recommended to enjoy the scenery unique to spring seen from train windows by taking a trolley train!

Mid March to early April is the best time to see.
